The AFCITF encourages and supports the effective operation of State/Territory BCITFs to meet the needs of industry.

The objectives of the AFCITF are to

• Promote the value of industry training funds
• Foster a cooperative approach to matters of common interest
• Identify and monitor economic trends that may impact upon the integrity of training funds
• Encourage the establishment of training funds in States and Territories where they do not as yet exist
• Encourage nationally consistent research and development projects
• Encourage and promote best practice initiatives in the application of training funds
• Foster positive relationships between key stakeholders and the funds

Within the collaborative relationship of its members, the AFCITF will

• Share research, including information on training and industry trends
• Share marketing materials, including the promotion of careers in building and construction
• Maintain a network of communications between industry practitioners
• Facilitate and support training, covering vocational education and training in schools, prevocational training, new apprenticeships, upskilling and multiskilling, continuing professional development, cadetships and tertiary education
